Hey all, first I want to say thank you to all the really great comments, they are very much appreciated!

This is only the teaser trailer for Flight and as such some of the tech is still missing, for example the normal maps and reflectivity haven’t been implemented yet. This trailer only shows of the demo level from Flight, flying as a Storm Petrel over the Ocean, however the final game includes playable birds such as Eagles, Hawks and Cormorants, amongst others, as well as multiple different landscapes including but not limited to Mountains, the Countryside, Cliffs and the Desert. Each bird does have a different ability that varies the gameplay, but we’re not quite ready to talk about that yet (still tweaking the programming there), however we will be releasing more trailers in the near future that will display the full game content as well as all the gameplay.

The aim of Flight is to fly around and gather up all the clouds on each layer of the sky and the spiral shaped clouds will take you up and down between the layers. The spirals do try and run away from you at first but as you gather more clouds on each layer they run away less and less until they don’t fear you anymore. The trail coming off the back of the bird is all feathers, in the final game they will all be spinning and spiralling, so that they look a little bit more like feathers and less like... well you know...

A lot of people here have made connections to Flow, Flower and Cloud, but I can assure you that Flight is not a conscious attempt to rip off any of these great games. Saying that, however Jenova Chen’s works has been a massive influence to the studio and he is one of my personal gaming heroes; I love ‘alt’ gaming and games that deal with different genres and emotions, such as Flow and Auditorium, and equally love that thanks to companies such as “That Game Company” and “Sony” that these games have started to infiltrate the mainstream. If it wasn’t for people such as Jenova Chen then there probably wouldn’t be an audience for the kind of games that we at Floating point Studios want to create, so we have nothing but respect, admiration and thanks for them.
Besides the documentation for Flight had already begun before the first footage for Flower was released and in a rather embarrassing confession none of us had even seen Cloud (although we did know of and about it) until we were quite a way into Flight’s development cycle.

Again thanks to everyone for their words on Flight, any and all your feedback is really useful and very much appreciated!
