Update

Greetings faithful purveyors of all things FPS and indulge your keen selves in a gourmet weekly update running successfully for two weeks now - consistency at last! Throughout the last week the advertising commission on which Jules and Rich have been working on is finally finished. The animation scenes will now go into the final rendering stage which will take a lot of processing power over a few days time, utilising the combined calculative power of the office and so should be complete in several days whence upon work can be fully resumed on the task of getting our full version of Flight compiled into the final game. This requires another week or so of coding prowess from Jules the completion of which will be a milestone for us at FPS basically representing the culmination of near enough six months work from us all here in the office.

Rich has keenly resumed work on The Elder, going through the conceptual stages of art design for the game. He has been concentrating mainly on tribal buildings and architecture and is moving on to Aztec/Mayan originated elements which will be an evident style in many parts of the game. This work will come in particularly useful alongside the structural level layouts that Andrea is currently pacing through as can then start having three dimensional spatial references for stylising each level and applying pre-conceptual design ideas to their most suited environments.

The music for Flight has been undergoing a technical reworking at my anxious hands and each track now feels more complete and serene which is exactly what we were trying to achieve - all that needs to be done now is to finitely adjust the volume density levels of each track to ensure they play back optimally. I can soon return to the fresh and challenging task of composing the music for the Elder, something I've been looking forward to as the game has a much more retro look, theme and feel which requires a totally different approach to music design. There are also many hundreds of sound effects to be recorded, created and manipulated both in the recording studio (which is basically and empty room at the moment with a microphone - got to start somewhere...) and a lot of outdoor recording. Our geographical location on the South coast of Wales is a wonderful environment for audio recording as there are many isolated areas of countryside and coastline in which to record uninterrupted as opposed to a crowded city.

Our new Website has increased in popularity since the redesign with increasing hits on a daily basic. We are also seeing a steady download of the demo which is hopefully spreading it's relaxing vibes across the Web with a positive response from all. Count yourself in and download our demo today from the main page. The demo has recently undergone a slight update which has solved some minor bugs. If you experience any issues with launching the game from the splash screen, please run the game without MSAA enabled (set to 'none') which should fix any problems with the game. Enjoy, let us know what you think via email, and stay with us for the upcoming full game!
