The Elder (working title) is the second game in development at Floating Point Studios and it is a comical 2D platformer, designed specifically to pay a large amount of homage to the games that the team members grew up play and which ultimately inspired them to become developers; these games include such classics as: Oddworld, Z Steel Soldiers, Crash Bandicoot, Quake, Doom, Half-Life, the Pandemonium games and many more.

The Elder is designed to be bright, colourful and fun. The narrative takes place on several tropical islands, each featuring their own style and aesthetics. Each island has approximately ten levels that will take place across the entirety for island, from beaches to forests to mountains and Aztec temples and even underground caverns.

The Elder is primarily designed around a gameplay mechanic, which involve interaction with the game’s principal enemies. Player has to collect stunned enemies in reward for helper characters which also act as the player’s life. These helpers follow the player throughout the game and can help out with puzzle solving and enemy attacks.

The Elder features formidable enemies and gigantic boss fights, lush tropical islands, rich foliage, old school gameplay mixed with new generation rendering and mechanics, backwards compatibility to ensure that the game runs on older hardware and many more features to be announced soon!
